And then my head exploded again
I suffer from the frighteningly named exploding head syndrome and last night my head exploded again. About every two months as I’m dropping off to sleep I hear a ferocious electrical BANG! inside my head, and then it’s very hard to sleep for a while. Occasionally it’s accompanied by a nano-second flash of white light, but one particularly nasty episode recently came with the...

Coughlin's Law
I had terrible insomnia a few nights ago. Apparently my brain decided I needed to be awake so it could work on this slab of genius: Coughlin’s Law - A prequel to Cocktail centred around Doug Coulghlin, Tom Cruise’s mentor in the original film and fond of saying things like “Coughlin’s Law: bury the dead, they stink up the place” - Set in late 70s and early 80s New...

Top 5 people I'd like to see as Doctor Who
Number 1. Noddy Holder Imagine seeing that sticking its head out of the TARDIS and bellowing “IT’S CHRIST-MAAAAAAAAS”. Terrifying and entertaining in equal measure. Number 2. Muscle-computer interfaces. Hello Ironman
How can something with so many exciting implications for the way we interact with computers and machinery (think disability, think Ironman) be presented with such a dull voice? Just pray it doesn’t fall into the hands of super-villains.

Let's keep things in perspective
You might think what you’re doing is important right now, but does it amount to a hill of beans on W Cephei?

Look more slowly
“The two most engaging powers of an author are to make new things familiar, and familiar things new.” Samuel Johnson Cheers, Sammy. Thanks for the intro. So in the spirit of making familiar things new, lets have a look at some bullets. Filmed at a million frames per second, it takes something familiar (and very nasty) and shows it massively slowed down until it becomes quite...
